Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar by his folk-inspired pop hits with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell, New Mexico. He fell in love with Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's national anthems to his adopted state has drawn a lot of people to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated it was because John Denver is the only performer to embody Colorado. Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its the first member in 2011. He has become the personification of Colorado for many people across the globe. Through my travels I've had the pleasure of meeting individuals who are from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell that you're from Colorado the first words they'll say is"Oh John Denver. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads - cowritten with Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo performer after a brief time in small folk groups. Danoff wrote the song along with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver heard an early version he knew right away the track could become the next hit single. After performing the song at Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer recorded it just days from now.
